All For Ashlee

In June 2007 Ashlee was born with a TE Fistula, Imperforate Anus, and Cloacal Anomaly. The day after she was born she had surgery to repair the TE Fistula. She stayed in the NICU for 11 days and then finally went home. About a month later she had her esophagus dilated, a few weeks later she got a UTI and was in the hospital for nearly 2 weeks and finished her 18 day stay in the hospital with a colostomy. She has been doing pretty well since then. She had her esophagus dilated again in December. In May Ashlee got a DOC Band which she had for 3 1/2 months. We traveled to Ohio in August for Ashlee's Rectal Pull-Thru {and much more}, where we also found out that she has Tethered Cord. In a couple of weeks, she will be having the surgery to un-tether her spinal cord. All thru Ashlee's short life, she has been thru so much and yet has still managed to be one of the happiest babies in the whole world. She brings so much love and hope to her family and all who know her or get a chance to see her smile have fallen in love with her. I am Ashlee's lucky mom. {All proceeds go towards Ashlee's medical bills, treatments, and surgeries.}

LemonAID for Ashlee 8/16/08

Hey everyone! My Angel on earth, Kamarah Adams, has taken my burden upon herself and gone WAY above and beyond, as always. She posted this on her blog and I told her I would post it on mine and Ashlee's too. We so appreciate her doing this and would equally appreciate any help from any of you. Feel free to copy and paste it into an email or onto your blog as well. Thanks everyone!

Make LemonAID for Ashlee! 8/16/08

What are YOU doing this Saturday morning? Can YOU spare some time to make LemonAID? Get your family and/or friends together for a quick act of service to make a big difference for Ashlee Adams and participate in the LemonAID Challenge.

Aid = (synonyms of) Help, assist, support, minister to, relieve, serve, sustain, bolster, encourage, promote, advance, foster

Where do you need to go to do the challenge? Your front yard! (Or come visit my lemonAID stand & garage sale 4602 S. Oak St. Tempe 85282, more posts to come with details on that)

What do you need to do? Set up a lemonade stand! Have some fun get your kids, spouse, significant other, friend, or neighbor and by a bag of ice, some lemonade, and plastic cups (or make your own fresh squeezed if you are so inclined) and sell your deliciousness for a $1 a cup. Do it right in your own front yard! Be silly, have fun, turn the sprinklers on, spray each other with spray bottles, water guns, or hoses and SELL sell SELL!!!

Why do you need to do it? Because its time for our amazing friends and cousins the Adams family to go all the way to Ohio for a very specialized surgery to significantly improve the quality of their baby Ashlee's life. They have to stay for at least 10 days and get back and forth from the hospital to a hotel. They won't be able to stay at the Ronald McDonald house because of the long wait there. Which means they will need to not only be paying for hospital bills and plane tickets but now also a hotel and a rental car. We can make a difference and make LemonAID! It is a small time commitment and the whole thing could be done and over with for your family by 10am - enough time to have a full Saturday left to party while doing a simple and kind act of service for someone else. You can make a difference "by small and simple things are great things brought to pass!"

How do I turn in my money to make a difference for Ashlee & her family? You can either deposit the money into
Ashlee's PayPal account online or you can meet me at the Target food court (for those east valley residents) on Gilbert and Southern from 1 - 1:30pm this Saturday August 16th to turn in your money and multitask with your Saturday Target list.

I've mentioned Ashlee before on the blog and I know most of the people who read this silly blog of mine know Miss Ashlee or her Mom and Dad personally. It's just something small we can all do that is not only fun but a special memory of service you can make with your family at the same time!

Put yourself in someone elses shoes and do something simple to make a difference! Join me in the LemonAID for Ashlee Challenge!

Surgery Update

This morning, May 7th, was Ashlee’s long awaited appointment with her surgeon where were supposed to get a surgery date. Instead…we didn’t. That’s the bad news. The good news is that we have an AMAZING surgeon who knows his limitations. Our surgeon was very honest with us at her last appointment telling us that he has done Cloaca surgeries before but that he wouldn’t be doing his job if he didn’t tell us about this Surgeon in Cincinnati, OH that does them almost daily. This other surgeon is also the one who “invented” (for lack of a better word) the procedure to fix these Cloacas. We told him that we had confidence in him as a surgeon and appreciated his honesty but wanted him to do the surgery. Today he told us that after we left that appointment he didn’t rest for 2 days. He hasn’t done a Cloaca surgery in 6 years and has never done the specific procedure that Ashlee will need. He is very concerned for her Gynecological future and doesn’t feel confident that he is the best surgeon for the task at hand. His sincerity is touching, and we know that his concerns are real. (Especially remembering back to the NICU when we first met him and he told us how confident he was in doing the procedure to fix her Esophagus.) Again, we appreciate his honesty. He said he also doesn’t know a surgeon in Arizona that he would recommend for this procedure. He again mentioned the surgeon, Dr. Pena, in Ohio and said that he was waiting for our call. We are very pleased that Ashlee’s surgeon who has performed all of her surgeries and procedures since birth will fly out to Cincinnati for her Surgery with Dr. Pena to assist him and learn more about the procedure he will be doing. We knew Ashlee’s situation was rare when we first heard about it but now we really know how rare it is seeing that we have to go see the man who basically invented the wheel for this procedure.

This means that we will have to fly to Cincinnati for a consultation with Dr. Pena. Then after the surgery is scheduled we will have to fly back out for the surgery. So now added to our list of expenses is the two flights for Bryan and I to go out there for the consultation and for the surgery itself. Many of you already know that we are going to be having an All for Ashlee Fundraiser to help pay for medical expenses. It will be a garage sale/bake sale/boutique. If you have anything you would like to donate, please contact us at
allforashlee@gmail.com , or you can make a monetary donation right here on this blog by clicking on the "DONATE" button. The actual fundraiser will be on Saturday, May 17th. Please contact us for directions.

Thank you!

Sincerely,
Bryan, Coree, Dane and Ashlee Adams

Lucky

Ok folks here they are! This is what the "Lucky" St. Patty's Day blocks will look like. These are the backgrounds. (Sorry, they look more yellow than they really are.) You can choose from these 4 fonts. As always if you have a font that you like better, you are more than welcome to email it to me and I can use that one. If you can't tell the font is a dark green color, the blocks will be white and the same size as the "Be My Valentine" blocks ~ 2"x 1 1/2". I will be taking orders for these blocks until the last week of February. Cost: $15

V-Day Block Backgrounds

Ok last night at 11:00 I put together this sample page for background options for V-Day blocks. I am not showing the picture because I seriously did it with not a care in the world for prettiness. You can see tape and they are crooked and everything. SO, if you are interested in looking at the backgrounds for blocks, just click on the link and try not to be too judgemental. HAHA

Be My Valentine

Hey everyone! I just wanted to let you know that I am making Valentine's Day Blocks!! I don't have a set done yet, I am still waiting for the vinyl to come and need to pick out my backgrounds. (Obviously the backgrounds will be the classic Valentine's Day colors of White, Red, and Pink. Block colors can be any of those colors or if you have another idea, let me know! These are for your house, so be creative! These are the fonts that I have picked out, but I definitely can do them any font you would like, as well as in pink, black, or white if you don't like red. I am doing these blocks smaller than the other blocks I have done in the past. These blocks will be on the same size block as the alphabet blocks I did before, if you ever got a chance to see those. They are approximately 2" tall and 1 1/2" wide. So they won't take up a TON of space, but will still look SUPER cute! This set of blocks will be $10, so hurry and place your orders so I will have time to get them all done by February!! As always, if you want them to say something different, that is always an option too! I will adjust the price as needed.
